Quick easy scone recipe
I’ve got lots of lovely recipe books but more often than not I use my old handwritten recipes notebook which has all my school recipes and ones which I’ve collected over the last 30 years or so. This scone recipe is one from my school days and it’s super easy and ideal to make for any unexpected visitors! After all, a pot of tea and warm scones out of the oven with butter and jam is hard to beat!
Recipe
300g self raising flour
45g butter
3 tablesp granulated sugar
1 egg
Milk
Bake at 210 degrees for 8-10 mins
Sieve flour into bowl and add cubes of butter, rub together until resembles fine breadcrumbs and then mix in sugar
Add egg and milk and mix until an elastic dough forms
Roll out and cut with small or medium sized cutter, place onto baking tray lined with baking parchment and brush tops with milk
Bake for around ten minutes at 210 degrees and then place on cooling tray for a few minutes
Serve with butter, jam and clotted cream….yum!!

Hi Maria! So sorry just seeing your comment now, I just add milk until it’s all bound together and starting to get slightly sticky and then I roll it out in flour ??
OK understood. Thank you very much!!
