Redcastle mini break
I’ve previously blogged about staying in the beautiful Quigley Suite at Redcastle Hotel in County Donegal and how much I love it so I was delighted when hubby said he’d booked us in again for a little mini break. As it’s only an hour and a half drive from where we live it’s ideal for a short break without having to book flights etc.
I packed some magazines and my kindle along with candles and some homemade macarons as we intended to make the most of this gorgeous room with the balcony looking over the water.
When we arrived it was a beautiful day and the sun was sparkling on the water. This room has the most relaxing atmosphere and there’s nothing better than sitting with the doors open and enjoying the view and the sound of the water.
We booked dinner in the Edge Restaurant for our first night and as usual the food was first class. The staff are all so lovely and friendly which makes such a difference when staying in a hotel. We were given a table at the window with a beautiful view across the water and our meal was delicious from beginning to end.
We had a very relaxed evening and sat in the lounge area for a while before going back to the room.
Next morning we headed back to the Edge restaurant for breakfast. Breakfast is a buffet of fruit, cereals, croissants and of course a full cooked breakfast which hubby LOVES!!
On our last visit we did quite a bit of driving around and sightseeing but this time we wanted to just chill out and read and drink tea!
We decided to eat in the Captains Bar on our second night as I absolutely love the seafood chowder starter served there and then I had the tiger prawn and coconut dish for my main whilst hubby had a burger with chips.
Later on that evening we had a strawberry and caramel sundae in our room and it is the most amazing dessert ever!!
Next morning it was another glorious day and we had breakfast in our room with the balcony doors wide open. I documented our stay here on my Insta Stories on IG and received lots of messages from people saying how beautiful it was.
After enjoying our breakfast we got our bags packed for home and then sat with the morning papers looking out over that stunning view before checking out around 11.30am and heading back home refreshed after a wonderful break.
I had to stop on the road home to snap a couple of pics of this gorgeous little cottage with it’s blue door and shutters and look at that blue sky!!
