Christmas table
My Christmas table decor is usually planned well in advance but as my mum is very ill I hadn’t given it much thought this year until the week before Christmas and it ended up being quite similar to last years table which you can see here. Last year I used lots of holly picked from my friends garden and ivy from my own garden but this year I went to my local florist and bought lots of eucalyptus and some pink roses and gorgeous thistles and berries. I started it off with a sparkly silver garland from my local garden centre and then added in lots of eucalyptus and I then filled vintage crystal footed dishes with the fresh roses, thistles and berries and placed them amongst the eucalyptus with little mercury glass tealight holders dotted along the table. I also used some of my mercury glass candlesticks and bought some gorgeous handpainted Susie Watson candles and striped ribbon to tie in bows round the taller ones.
I used my vintage Royal Grafton ‘Malvern’ dinner set and put some Susie Watson ribbon round the napkins with some eucalyptus placed on top and a little mercury glass bauble place card holder. My favourite Gabriella Miller cutlery always features on special occasions and it tied in perfectly on my Christmas table with the floral china and fresh flowers.
I found some gorgeous pink baubles with bows on them and sat them and some little deer amongst the eucalyptus and flowers and I glittered some large pine cones and some of the eucalyptus before putting copper wire lights along the table and it all looked very sparkly & pretty.
I put a huge vase of eucalyptus on my sideboard and tied some of the Susie Watson ribbon round the vase and it smelled amazing. I also used more hand painted Susie Watson candles in silver candlesticks on the sideboard to tie in with the table decor.
As my mum was too ill to come to us for dinner I set up a little table in her spare bedroom for her and my dad and took dinner up to them and it really cheered her up that she was able to have a little Christmas celebration.
